IOU Part 1 Content - General Counselling Skills
- Non-verbal communication = body language
- Minimal encouragers = signals from therapist to client that encourage the client to feel free, and safe, to continue talking.
- Open Ended questions = they invite answers instead of Yes or No responses.
- Paraphrasing = summarising the contents and inviting the client to continue.
- Active Listening = empathising, identifying, encouraging
- Reflecting feelings = indicating understanding and acceptance

National Qualifications:
